A Calm Kind of Wild is an original mixed-media portrait of Doc Holliday, portrayed by Tim Rozon in Wynonna Earp. Created on natural-toned paper, this piece blends traditional color pencils, Posca highlights, and both matte and shimmering watercolors. The result is a warm, layered artwork that captures the rich, textured feeling of an old Western photograph infused with soft light and emotion.
The base tones of sepia are joined by faded, weathered blue hues, echoing the worn wood of a Western shed. It feels sun-bleached and softened by time. These subtle colors carry the essence of the Far West while creating a serene and intimate atmosphere.
In this portrait, Doc is caught in a disarmingly tender gesture, tucking a strand of hair behind his ear. It’s a moment of vulnerability and quiet charm, one that enhances his familiar charisma with a softer, almost contemplative energy. Playful yet strong, dark yet sweet—this pose reflects every nuance of his complex character.
Touches of shimmer in the background and shadows add a gentle glow, elevating the sense of a moment paused, held still like dust caught in late-afternoon light.
Whether you’re a fan of Wynonna Earp or drawn to evocative, emotionally rich portraits, A Calm Kind of Wild invites you to linger in its quiet magic.
Iridescent Doc is an original mixed media portrait made with Faber Castell Polychromos and Caran d’Ache Luminance color pencils, as well as metallic and matte watercolors. I also used white Posca pens for highlights. It’s made on a Clairefontaine mixed media paper 250g/m2 (115lb).
