Agatha Harkness – Original Colored Pencil Portrait

A little wickedness, a lot of purple, and a whole galaxy of magic.

Agatha Harkness quickly became one of my favourite Marvel characters. She’s powerful, unpredictable, deliciously wicked, and occasionally surprisingly touching. You might want to slap her one minute and adore her the next. And that’s exactly why I love her.

Kathryn Hahn brings something extraordinary to this character. I’ve admired her work for years, but her performance as Agatha is something else. Her intensity, her piercing gaze, and the way she moves between humour, cruelty, and vulnerability make her absolutely fascinating to watch.

When I draw a character, I always look for that one expression that feels unmistakably them. For Agatha, it was this look. That knowing smile, those incredibly expressive eyes, and the feeling that she’s already three steps ahead of everyone else.

Before creating this original portrait, I explored several versions of Agatha in my sketchbook, experimenting with colours, textures, and galaxy-inspired hair. Eventually, those little studies led me here.

Of course, purple had to take centre stage. It’s Agatha’s colour, the signature of her magic. I combined it with vibrant blues, pinks, and shimmering cosmic details to give her hair an almost otherworldly presence. This portrait is my way of celebrating everything I love about Agatha: her magic, her contradictions, her wicked humour, and that irresistible intensity.

Because some witches simply refuse to stay inside the lines. 💜

Material

Agatha Harkness is an original drawing made with Faber Castell Polychromos and Caran d’Ache Luminance color pencils, and pastel Posca pens for highlights on a Strathmore paper 118g/m2 (80lb).
